Abstract

The effect of electrostatic confinement on charging of dust grains has been studied in a dusty plasma experimental setup by applying electrostatic field to each channel of a multicusp magnetic cage. The number of charges collected by dust grains is calculated both from the amount of deflection and floating potential. The experimental results demonstrate the significant effect of confining wall potential on charging of dust grains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
