Abstract

The article discusses the North American automobile industry with a focus on the roles of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in building cars. Discussion topics include the North American Free Trade Agreement and American Labeling Act's effects on the industry, a changing system of suppliers and assemblers, and the integration of production, distribution, and marketing networks in the auto industry. Productivity enhancement on continental and global levels, resulting from the supply chain networks' linking of production and distribution centers, is discussed.
