Abstract

The article discusses the cleanup of bleach using catalase. Bleach Cleanup has been described as the removal of excess hydrogen peroxide following the bleaching process. Classical methods used in removing residual hydrogen peroxide are discussed, one is through rinsing with fresh water, another is through the use of reducing agents and the last involves the use of catalase in which hydrogen peroxide is broken down into non-active oxygen and water. Several advantages of using the catalase approach are given which include low water consumption, short process time and safe dyeing.
