Abstract

The article presents a study on the history of efforts of Australian tobacco industry to resist, dilute, and delay health warnings on cigarettes. The study uses opportunistic website and systematic keyword searches of internal documents that were available through the Master Settlement Agreement. The study suggests that advocates of tobacco control should counter the arguments and strategies used by the tobacco industry if they want to raise awareness on the harmful effects of smoking.
