Nationalism at the Edge: The Jüdische Volksrat of Habsburg Bukovina.

The article examines Jewish nationalism in Habsburg Dynasty-dominated east central Europe through an analysis of the Jüdische Volksrat (People's Council), an Austrian Zionist group that adhered to a distinctly Jewish brand of realpolitik. In a broad sense, the author is concerned with Austrian-Jewish political culture as well as general themes of ethnonationalism, political autonomy, and democracy.
