Abstract

The article presents a reprint of the article "The Effects of a Vitamin D Deficient Diet on Chronic Cadmium Exposure in Rats," by Hideomi Uchida, which appeared in the previous issue. It mentions that the severe form of chronic cadmium (Cd) intoxication is Itai-itai disease (IID) which occurs in post-menopausal women. It further mentions that the study was conducted on ovariectomized (OX) female rats which reveals the effects of the deficiency of Vitamin D on Cd intoxication.
