Abstract

This article discusses data on waterborne disease outbreaks associated with recreational water in the U.S. from 2007 to 2008. The Waterborne Disease and Outbreak Surveillance System (WBDOSS) database provided data, including swimming pool chemical-associated health events and single cases of Vibrio wound infection and primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). The outbreaks included acute gastrointestinal illness (AGI), dermatologic illnesses and acute respiratory illness (ARI).
