Taxonomic variation in Size--density relationships challenges the notion of energy equivalence.

The article presents information on a study which demonstrated that size-density relationships vary systematically among taxonomic groups, with most difference evident at the order level. It examines the reliability of the energy equivalence rule (EER) at the taxonomic scale appropriate for the data. The implication of the research findings is explained.
