Abstract
- The article focuses on New York dairymen Loren Benware and Dan Marchaland who feed diets of 75% forage that could maintain milk production and lower costs. It notes that the dairy ration of Benware on his cow's high-forage diets in three quarters is corn silage and alfalfa-reed canarygrass. It adds that the 140-cow herd of Marchaland have been fed through computer feeder and producing 10 pounds (lbs) of milk per pound of grain.
