Abstract

The article outlines the author's views on mortgage market developments for 1961 in the United States. It is suggested that the supply of investment funds seeking outlets in mortgage markets will exceed the demand in 1961. The article asserts that as the flow of saving expands, the downward pressure on mortgage interest will continue and the quality of credit will decline as reflected in contract terms and acceptability of borrowers. The article also predicts that the actual net flow of funds into mortgage markets will show little change from 1960 and may well decline.
