Abstract
- The article discusses the rules and standards concerning the detention and treatment of individuals who are transferred to detention facilities in the U.S. from the Guantanamo Detention Center in Cuba. It cites the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Hamdi versus Rumsfeld case in 2004 that authorized the U.S. President to approve the detention of persons captured by U.S. forces in Afghanistan. The treatment of detained persons in the U.S. is also examined.
