Abstract

A hitherto undescribed form of immune haemolytic anaemia due to penicillin antibody is described. The antibody, which was of the IgM class, fixed complement and caused acute haemolysis. Oral penicillin seems to have been responsible both for antibody production and, on subsequent exposure, for the haemolytic anaemia. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
