Abstract
- A case of bronchial carcinoma occurring in a young Negro is described. The incidence of the condition in the Negro race is reviewed. Although it is apparently rare in the native African, it is much more common in the American of Negro stock. Two factors are suggested as being responsible for this—increasing longevity and increasing contact with external carcinogens, of which the most likely is cigarette smoke. Available evidence indicates that the disease is, as yet, rare in the British Negro but may be expected to rise following the pattern in the United States. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
