Abstract

In a public library, the free access to the collection of books requires a strategy aimed to satisfy the tastes of the readers. The reading spaces available to the users of the library OMNIA reveal some categories of readers. The first category is represented by the readers who have a liking for mystery novels, biographies, comics, magazines. The second category is represented by the readers who come with a multitude of demands and seek for accurate information. In this typology of demanding readers, the spatial strategy of the library is resumed by transparency, contact and segmentation. Typologies of readers, based on the users' attendance and behaviour, have been created since the foundation of the library. Their working program determines the motivation of their attendance, the subject matter of the books consulted and the fields of knowledge requested. The policy of arranging the space and arranging the books on the shelves is based on a detailed analysis of the modality to attract the public. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
