Abstract
- The article presents the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis for the mass grocery retail (MGR) industry in India. It provides information on the structure of MGR market statistically from 2002-2010 in terms of estimated number of outlets and sales by format. It also discusses the forecast scenario of the industry in which it remains dominated by small-scale traditional four retail outlets which include supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience and discount stores.
