The article presents a summary of Chile's financial risk. Chilean companies with good credit ratings continue to have access to local currency borrowing options although the global credit crunch in 2008-2009 caused financial difficulties to some Chilean companies. The country's simplified tax treatment provided the creation of a commercial paper market and the elimination of taxes on crossborder intermediation allowed local banks to expand their operations in foreign trade financing.
