Abstract
- The article offers information on a cohort study conducted in India to study the influence of education on cardiovascular diseases (CVD) mortality. The study was conducted on a group of 148,173 individuals of age more than or equal to 35 years who lived in Mumbai between 1991 and 1997. The individuals were divided into five groups based on their education. It was observed that mortality for all diseases and literacy were inversely proportional in both men and women and in CVD only for men.
