Abstract

The article discusses some of the difficulties associated with managing United States National Defense. Business management policies employed in a national defense program must be flexible enough to react to fluctuating resource availabilities and changing defense policies. Since there is never an end-point associated with defense strategies, traditional project management techniques do not apply. The author recommends applying resource management techniques to determine military and non-military spending levels, as well as possible nuclear deterrence strategies.
