Abstract
- The article considers the economic background of labor disputes in the motion picture industry in the U.S. These disputes are basically jurisdictional contested by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and the various unions of building trades affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, especially concerning construction works. This situation is complicated by an increasing maladjustment between labor supply and demand. Add to this is the lack of willingness on the part of unions to settle the jurisdictional disputes except on their own terms.
