Abstract
- The article presents a historical background of the school-based health services in England. It discusses the shifts in the philosophy related to school health services from 1905 to 2009 including the legislation and administration to control infectious diseases, malnutrition, and behavioural and social disorders in school children. The authors argue that training for doctors, nurses, and general practitioners (GPs) are needed for the benefit of children with long term conditions in schools.
