Abstract

The author focuses on the emergence of consumers' preference for wellness and family as a key trend in retailing in the U.S., based on the result of a research document from the Food Marketing Institute (FMI). This is supported by a March Harris Poll, that shows most consumers are aware of key nutritional facts and diet management. The author encourages retailers to combine nutrition education programs with value messaging to maximize return from this trend.
