Abstract
- The article discusses English philosophical author and music theorist Edmund Gurney, focusing on his research in the fields of dynamic psychiatry and psychology. The author notes Gurney's studies concerning hypnotism and hallucination and examines his relationships with psychical researchers Frederic W.H. Myers and William James. He suggests that Gurney's work has been overlooked in the field of psychology due to its engagement with controversial issues. Gurney's book "Phantasms of the Living" is also discussed.
