Abstract

The article focuses on the approaches of research toward the influence of music on employee productivity and morale. It states that music has been considered by certain managers concerned with the problem of motivating employees to improve their productivity without increasing costs or reducing quality, such as by Thomas A. Edison, Charles M. Schwab, and John Wanamaker. It says that claims that the introduction of music into workplace results to increased production had not been proven. It mentions that the feelings of euphoria at periods of music stimulation have psychological basis as shown by the changes in blood pressure of certain research subjects while they listen to music.
