Two New Steroidal Saponins from the Fresh Leaves of Agave sisalana.

The article discusses the isolation and structure elucidation of two steroidal saponins from the fresh leaves of Agave sisalana. A new furostanol saponin, sisalasaponin C, and a new spirostanol saponin, sisalasaponin D, together with three other known steroidal saponins and two stilbenes, were obtained. The three known compounds were isolated from the fresh leaves of Agavacea for the first time. The compounds' structures were obtained by detailed spectroscopic analysis and chemical approaches.
