Abstract

The article presents a study which evaluated the use of p63 for distinction of glandular versus squamous lesions in cervicovaginal specimens. p63 is said to be a useful immunocytochemical marker for differentiating primary grandular pathology from high-grade intraephithelial lesions (HSIL) in cervicovaginal specimens. The researchers concluded that p63 may be a diagnostic pitfall in atrophic cervicovaginal specimens.
