Abstract
- The article discusses twentieth century policy toward war victims and veterans in Eastern Europe. It provides an overview of twentieth century conflicts in Eastern Europe, particularly examining World War I and World War II and considering the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. The Kosovo War of 1998-1999 is also explored. The author assesses several common themes, including issues of remembrance, the reintegration of veterans into society and the labor force, and the involvement of veterans in politics.
