Abstract

The article presents a study on the engineering properties of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)-poly(butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) Semi-1 and Semi-2 interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs). The researchers used an Instron Universal Testing Machine to measure different tensile properties including the toughness, modulus and ultimate tensile strength (UTS). They found that the PVC matrix was reinforced by the crosslinked methacrylate domains present in semi-2 IPNs.
