Abstract

The article examines the process of producing lightweight composite material based on polyurethane and Portland cement. According to the author, the amount of water has a bearing on the morphology and porosity of the foams, thereby also affecting the cement hydration reaction. They report that the mechanical properties of the hybrid composite are influenced by water and cement contents and whether the hydrated cement particles behaved as fillers or whether they interacted to form stronger inorganic networks within the polymeric matrix.
