Abstract

A biography of Brigadier General Thomas Lincoln Casey of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is presented. He was born May 10, 1831 in Sackets Harbor, New York and studied at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He was assigned to work at the construction of Fort Delaware, Delaware as an assistant engineer after his graduation at the academy. During his tenure as civil engineer, his accomplishments include the reconstruction of Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.
