Capture-recapture models: Introduction.

An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses papers on capture-recapture models presented at Capture 2006 workshop in Laval, Quebec, including a variant of the basic model where the capture occasions vary between units, the importance of Bayesian methods to fit complex statistical models to ecological data, and a model where bird survival is sex dependent.
