Abstract: The article discusses the budget request for independent U.S. agencies under the energy and water development appropriations bill for fiscal year (FY) 2011. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the Denali Commission are the agencies that receive funding from the bill. The requested funding of the NRC was 1.053 billion dollars. Also noted is the proposed budget for the regulation of operating reactors.
