Clinical Pharmacology as a Foundation for Translational Science.

The author discusses recent developments in the translational research in the U.S. He states that failure of clinical translation of pharmacological discoveries into product development indicates insufficient efficacy of research programs. He discusses about the goals of National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), the recently established by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). In his opinion, NCATS would maximize the medicinal discovery-translation continuum.
