Abstract

The article focuses on the policy of the U.S. concerning nanotechnology. It is said that nanotechnology offers the potential for economic growth, high-wage jobs and societal benefits. It also looks into the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) which has been launched by then President Bill Clinton in 2000 with the aim of creating a program for the coordination and expansion of measures to make advances with the technology. Issues affecting policy on nanotechnology are discussed including competition, global funding and patents.
