Abstract

The article investigates whether obese asthmatic patients have a different phenotype of asthma compared with non-obese patients as indicated by fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FENO). The authors report that among non-obese subjects, wheezing was found to be associated with higher FENO and atopy, while obese subjects who suffered from wheezing have lower FENO compared with obese subjects who did not wheeze. They conclude that there exists an association between wheezing and reduced FENO among obese people.
