Abstract
- The article reviews a book of papers presented at a conference, "(Post-) Yugoslav Migrations, State of Research, New Approaches, Comparative Perspectives," which took place in Berlin, Germany, in 2006. Articles were contributed by thirteen authors dealing with different aspects of migrations from the space of the former Yugoslavia during different periods between 19th and 21st centuries in order to shed light on emigration from this area to other areas, the implications of trans-territorialism in the process of migration on emigrants, the construction of national identity, and the societal transformations toward more-open society. The long history of intensive migrations from the territory of Yugoslavia has established this region as a "laboratory" for research on past and contemporary migrations.
