Abstract
- The article focuses on the social and economic condition in the province of Quebec. Economically, Quebec is Canada's biggest welfare operation. On top of the traditional poverty of the Quebeckers there is ethnic dimension, moreover, the religious issue also lurks in the provinces. The province is ruled by Rene Levesque's Parti Quebecois, a thoroughly schizophrenic outfit. The Quebeckers have been increasingly aggressive toward their neighbors. Newfoundland has a deal with New York State to ship electricity from the hydroelectric installation in Labrador.
