Abstract
- The article examines ways in which the roles of librarians and purposes of academic libraries at Drexel University and Johns Hopkins University are evolving due to the increased use of technology. It highlights the Library Learning Terrace at Drexel, a bookless library learning center housed in the center of residential life on campus, which provides a study space for students and professors as well as computers that provide access to the school's digital library resources. It also explores the informationist program at Johns Hopkins, wherein library information specialists work closely with medical students to aid them in research projects. It also provides comments from Drexel design director Kimberly I. Miller and Johns Hopkins professor Dr. Lynette Mark.
