Abstract

The article discusses a deal proposed by U.S. President Ronald Reagan in Central America as of August 1983. President Reagan will cease the country's demand for the democratization of Nicaragua, in exchange Nicaragua will desist from sending guerillas in El Salvador and Cuban leader Fidel Castro will pull his advisors from Nicaragua. President Reagan further stressed that the military presence of the U.S. in Central America is to protect the nations in the region. He also emphasized that the U.S. has no plans to approach Central America in a role of the colossus of the North.
