Abstract
- This paper is designed to examine the ways in which broadcasting in the Middle East utilizes historical context and interpretations when dealing with international events. Seventeen international satellite cable television services are reviewed. Selected news programs, documentaries, talk shows and sports programs were investigated during the period of 2008 through Spring of 2009. The argument made is that history is important in the sense of providing a time frame to an international event, but it should not be the only point of reference in the media s interpretation of that event.
