Abstract
- The article describes a 130-kilometer southwestward range expansion of the invasive corals Tubastraea coccinea and Tubastraea tagusensis to Búzios and Vitória Islands in São Paulo, Brazil. In July 2008, colonies of these invasive corals were observed in Búzios in high abundances at 0.5-15-meter depth. In 2009 and 2010, they expanded in Vitória Island. It believes that these invasive corals may expand their ranges further southward in the Southwest Atlantic.
