Abstract

The article presents a study on the effects of detergents on colorfastness of vat and azoic dyes in perchloroethylene. For the study, researchers applied three surfactants and two concentrations. They treated the colored textile fabrics with drycleaning solvent under the designated conditions. They found that the solubility of vat and azoic dyes can be improved or reduced at a specific hydrophilic-lypophilic balance because surfactant molecules possess a polar and a nonpolar part. They also found little affinity between vat and azoic dyes in organic solvents and cellulosic fibers.
