Abstract

The article discusses a study on whether the act of making a clinical recommendation changes the ways that physicians think about medical decisions. The authors used colon cancer and avian influenza scenarios to determine whether physicians would be susceptible to well-established cognitive biases. Results suggested that physicians think differently when they make treatment recommendations than when making decisions for themselves.
