The article traces the Odyssey-like journey of Zaira, the main character of the novel with the same title by the writer Cătălin Dorian Florescu. In her attempt to accomplish her dreams, goals and get rid of her fears, Zaira passes from one continent to another, from one man to another, through the whirlpool of history. At the end of the novel, the character realizes that the myths, the models and the anxieties of her childhood proved to be false, and that she ended by fleeing a life that could have been beautiful.
