Spatial Symbolic Entropy: A Tool for Detecting the Order of Contiguity.

The article explores the possible role of entropy-based measures for detecting spatial structure. The possible role is partially based on the superior performance of dependence entropy measures over traditional measures and partially on the idea of symbolic entropy. A nonparametric statistical procedure for selecting the order of the spatial lag is provided, along with a proposed symbolization procedure.
