Abstract
- This article examines the position of workplace trade unionism in Great Britain during the late 20th century. Three of the key issues in this debate: (1) the notion that unions have been rolled-back and sidelined by employers, (2) the idea that collective bargaining is separated from strategic decision-making primarily in order to neutralise the influence of trade unions, (3) the suggestion that employers are implementing techniques for employee involvement largely to undermine the activities of trade unionism.
