Ultrasound-Guided Catheterization of the Radial Artery.

The article discusses a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies on the utility of real-time two-dimensional ultrasound guidance for radical artery catheterization in the U.S. Data was obtained from Medline, Excerpt Medica Databases (EMBASE) and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). There was a 71% improvement in the possibility of a first-pass success rate due to the use of ultrasound guidance. One of the strengths of the review is the inclusion of minimally restrictive literature search.
