Abstract

The article explores the ability of post-bleaching of cotton and cotton/polyester blends to improve fastness and save time, cost and energy. Post-bleaching was found to be ideal for triazine reactive dyes after pre-screening of dyes. Aside from time and water savings, using post-bleaching instead of reduction clearing for polyester. Fastness of reactive dyes improved after washing with detergents because of the protection from Nortex Fix 370 and washing-off. No deterioration was observed in post-bleached samples after finishing due in part to the temperature higher than the glass transition temperature of polyester which allow the immediate dye of the surface.
