Abstract
- The article reports on the launch of a new computer line by Great Britain-based International Computers Ltd. (ICL) in October 1974. It notes that the initiative depicts the British government's effort to establish a locally owned computer industry which could compete against computer companies in the U.S. including International Business Machines (IBM) Corp., Honeywell Inc., and Univac. It adds that ICL will face even stronger competition after the establishment of a joint venture, Unidata Inc.
