Contributos para o estudo das gárgulas medievais em Portugal: desvios e transgressões discursivas?

The article presents an analysis of the human shaped figurative gargoyles in the religious building in Portugal, taking into consideration their aesthetic and pedagogical significance ("exempla"). The author addresses particular attention to the gargoyles and their relations to the sins (namely, lust and gluttony), their grotesque and scatological aspects and their didactic function in the architecture of the temples.
