Abstract

The article discusses the results of a study that determined whether a correlation exists between crosslinking of lyocell fibres with reactive dyes and fibrillation. The experimental materials and methods are provided, including scoured and bleached woven lyocell, dyeing and wash-off process to remove any unfixed dye from the sample. The study showed that when the dyed samples were washed-off, the wet abrasion resistance was reduced. Additionally, the wet abrasion resistance declines with increasing temperature of the dyeing. The study concluded that dyed lyocell displayed higher wet abrasion than undyed lyocell.
